2 Day Ramelau Climbing Tour

Day 1

Leaving Dili in the early morning, travel south on the mountain road to Aileu. Enjoy the rainforest atmosphere of Dare.

Proceeding further upwards, visit Remexio before arriving at the village of Aileu. Head past Maubisse and drive down to Hato Builico. Once there we park the vehicle, grab your tent and walk up to the summit of Mount Ramelau, the highest in the island (2960m).

Dress conveniently for low temperatures and prepare to spend the night at the summit. Or if you prefer, you can stay in a local guest house this evening, awaking in the very early hours for the climb to the summit the following morning before sunrise.

Day 2

Sunrise at the top of Ramelau is amazing. With clear skies you have a breathtaking view of the country. Here you’ll be literally “above the clouds”.

Head down to Hato Builico and drive to Maubisse for a rest. The local market on Sunday mornings is full of people from all around the region.

After this break return to Dili through the same road, this time having a great view of the capital on your way down.
