Tennant Creek Region

Tennant Creek with a population of approximately 3,900 is the only town (apart from Katherine) of any size between Darwin and Alice Springs. Situated 510 kilometers north of Alice Springs and 25 kilometers south of the only bitumen highway linking the Northern Territory to the East Coast, the Barkly Highway/Stuart Highway intersection commonly referred to as Threeways.

Tennant Creek is steeped in Gold Mining history with additional discoveries of copper and a few mines of differing sizes and type still operate today. The Tennant Creek region is rich in geographical features, none more so than the Devils Marbles 105 kilometers to the south. This collection of fascinating usually symmetrical boulders are situated conveniently beside the Stuart Highway, wind and water erosion have created the marble-like structures most of which are precariously balanced upon one another as if placed there by the devil himself.

Group & Private tours to all areas of the Tennant Creek Region are available. Email our friendly office staff for a quote.
